The Headshot Session:

What to Expect

№ 1. Planning Your Session

When you book your session, we will have a consult (phone, email or text, whichever works best for you) about what your final uses will be for your headshot. We will go over what sort of look you need and what will work best for your brand. We will also discuss what final file sizes you will need for social media or print.

№ 2. Outfits & Prepping

I have developed a comprehensive clothing and prep guide for both men and women to help prepare you for your session. It takes you through detailed suggestions for clothing as well as hair (beards too!), makeup, and accessories. You can call/text/email at any time to receive the guide or with any questions.

Below are some examples of a variety of studio background looks.

№ 3. The Day of the Shoot

When you arrive for your studio session, we will get you settled and go over your outfits. You will have your own bathroom in which to change and check your hair and makeup. 99% of people are nervous about having their photo taken but don't worry, it's super easy, We'll have a chat about your "best side", and if you have any features you would like to highlight or play down.

Once we start the session, I'll direct you to get great expressions. No need to "know" what to do. As we shoot, the images will come up on my laptop. We will check those throughout the session to make sure you are totally happy with how your hair and makeup look, and that your clothes are looking great. Once we know we've nailed it, we will go through all the images and narrow down to your favorites. You can make your final selection right away or, if you need more time to decide, I will send you a link to a gallery with your top choices.

Location shoots work just the same, except no guarantees on your own bathroom! I do however have a portable changing room that we can set up anywhere. One thing to note, some public places will require prior permission to shoot, which we will go over in our pre-session consult.

№ 4. After the Shoot

Once you have selected your final images, I will work on the retouching that you have requested. Typical turn around is about 2 business days. Quicker turn around is usually possible, so just let me know what you need. If you would like any additional retouching, I will make any adjustments for you.

You will receive your finished images in a JPG format, full resolution at 300dpi. You will also receive your requested resized images for social media such as LinkedIn or other applications that you need.

№ 5. Other Details

I accept cash, checks, Paypal, and all major credit cards. Payment is due the day of the shoot, or can be prepaid if you prefer.

In unusual cases, complex retouching may incur additional charges. An example of complex retouching would be removing braces,
